I'm all about mobile apps, gadgets and smartphones. I tell you what's worth getting and what sucks!

So the latest phone to hit us from MWC is the Mi5 from the Xiaomi’s camp. I will not even try to explain what makes this phone amazing, I will just leave the specs sheet down here and a video to show you how the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on that camera really works and why it is a game changer. Enjoy! I personally hate having to memorize all the different passwords that I have for the different services that I use, be it social media, emails, bank accounts, the list can be really long. With cybercrime on the rise, gone are the days when you’d have one password on all your accounts. For this reason, I sought out an app that would help me keep track of these passwords, behold LastPass. LastPass is a password manager for all browsers and smartphones. It works simply by keeping track of what sites you log-in to and saves these passwords for you. This means…

I use twitter alot, like a lot and I click on links, which open in the in-built Twitter browser. The in-built browser is a good thing because then I don’t have to open another app just to view a link. Other apps such as WhatsApp don’t have in-built browsers so they have to open up an external browser, such as Google Chrome. The problem with opening another app just to view a link is it’s so slow and when you go back to your previous app, it reloads and you end up losing track. Say, for example Instagram, you click…

Our app this week will wake you up and keep you up. Most people hate mornings, not just Monday mornings, but all of them. If you’re like me, the snooze button is your favourite button on your alarm app, but with this latest creation from Microsoft Garage project, you won’t want to hit the snooze button. Mimicker alarm was released a little over two weeks ago and I was priviledge enough to try it out and I have to say, simply genius. The alarm not only wakes you up by ringing, it keeps you up by making you play a…

Yes, a camera calculator. No, it doesn’t calculate your camera nor other cameras, it is actually an app that uses your smartphone’s camera to do mathematical calculations. Yes, we have officialy gotten to the age where we no longer have to do mathematical expressions ourselves but our phones can do them for us. I am sure you’re wondering how this app works, well…

Android is the undisputed king of smartphones, in popularity and market share. There are so many reasons why people love android devices, mostly it’s because they are vastly available and also come at an affordable price. But this giant doesn’t lack it’s shortfalls. Software updates…Most people don’t care about them but for those of us who care, the one question we always ask ourselves is when will I get the new update and will I even get it?. We are now at Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and I can testify to the slow process of android phones getting updates. Some phones never…

App of the week is new weekly series that we here at Tech Arena are taking up in an effort to provide our readers with information on cool apps that they may have no idea actually exist. We will be giving you an app that we think is worth checking out and also give a very brief review of the same here, so with that said, let’s begin. Don’t Screw Up, apart from having a kind-of weird name, is a rather interesting game. I played it and got a couple of my friends to try it too. The basics are…

A few years ago, I personally discovered that I could do a little more on my android device than I knew. It was like some form of magic, magic that I wish I knew from the first time I got an android device. So what exactly is rooting? I won’t go into the technical details but I’ll explain it as simply as I can. Rooting is like getting backstage access to your favourite artist’s concert, you get to see what everyone else can’t. Rooting therefore gives you more power over the capabilities of your phone; you can overclock it (increase…

WhatsApp is a very familiar application and a favourite to many. You are probably just from using it before you started reading this, but would you believe me if I told you that WhatsApp sucks? No? Ok. Well, WhatsApp is not the best messaging app in the world. Don’t get me wrong, it is good at what it does. I use it daily but I don’t use the conventional app, I use a more customizable one that could get me banned from using WhatsApp if they found out. So today I am gonna put it head-to-head with a very able…
