If you are always on your smartphone, then you have at some point got the ‘low battery’ warning. Modern smartphones are meant to be powerful, reliable and come with all the latest specifications and features. This is all good but can drain the battery faster that you would think. Powerful smartphones need power to handle all the tasks you throw at it and this is the same with smartphones that come with the latest and high end specifications and features such as modern (and bigger) displays, processors etc. Some of the latest processors are built to conserve power but they…

Tecno’s latest smartphone, the Spark 2, is finally available in Kenya. The phone is available exclusively through Jumia for Ksh 11,299. I do have a review unit and with that, I had to do an unboxing post and share my initial thoughts. It is priced competitively and this is key for Tecno as the company already has the Camon X and Camon CM that are slightly more expensive and those interested can go for those. The Tecno Spark 2 is the successor to the Tecno Spark from last year and it might be the Spark this series needs to shine…

Telkom Kenya wants to be the number 1 Telco when it comes to data in Kenya. This is according to Kris Senanu, Telkom Enterprise Managing Director. This is a bold ambition as the market is dominated by Safaricom and getting users to switch from one service provider to the other is not that easy. Mr Senanu revealed this today when sharing information about how Telkom Enterprise will provide services to help the government with the Big Four Agenda. You may have seen some of the different data options Telkom Kenya is offering and most of them are clearly meant to…
Infinix Mobility is getting ready to launch yet another smartphone in Kenya later this month. This new smartphone, the Infinix Note 5, is coming weeks after the company launched the Hot 6 Pro that is a very good smartphone if you are looking for one under Ksh 20,000. The Note 5 is the successor to the Note 4 and Note 4 Pro from last year and it will be interesting to see what has changed. Infinix is not sharing much about the Note 5 but as usual, there are a few things we know and a few things we can…
Back in February, HMD Global unveiled the Nokia 8110 “Banana Phone”. If you know a bit about Nokia’s history, then you know that this phone was first unveiled years ago and the relaunch was for the true fans who liked the old Nokia and want something modern but still retro. The phone was never unveiled in Kenya when the company introduced the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 1 and Nokia 7 Plus not so long ago. I wasn’t expecting the company to unveil this phone in Kenya but it has finally done that. The Nokia 8110 4G, also referred to as the…
Samsung is a name we have come to associate with high end devices, the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S series to be specific. The company does make some affordable devices but in a market like Kenya, companies such as Infinix, Tecno and even OPPO have dominated this segment pushing Samsung to the wall. The main reason for this is that these three companies (and other small brands) have figured out this segment and have appealing devices within these prices unlike Samsung that has refused to innovate and keeps flooding the market with devices that I would honestly not recommend.…
