Oppo has earlier today has teased its new approach to a curved display design initially pioneered by Samsung. Their approach takes things even further by extending the screen by 88% into the edges. As a result, you get a phone with no physical buttons. As per now, it is not yet clear what Oppo plans to swap for removal of the physical power and volume rocker buttons usually located on the edges. Also, there are some other setbacks that come with this screen design as well. You will experience accidental touches, more often, but this is solvable since they could…

WhatsApp for web was first introduced in 2015 but was just a mirrored version of the mobile app. Which means, unlike Telegram web, WhatsApp for web still needed your phone to be online for it to work. According to WABetaInfo, that might change soon. According to a tweet posted from the WABetaInfo account, the company might be developing a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app alongside a new multi-programming system that will enable WhatsApp for web work independently. This is the same way that Telegram for desktop works. With the new implementation, you will be able to connect with your WhatsApp…

Taking a look back at the mobile phone industry, some 10-15 years down the line, non-removable batteries were not as common as they are right now. Manufacturers are now moving away from removable batteries to non-removable ones. So is this just a gimmick or is there any importance of doing away with them? See, it’s all about priorities and especially in the smartphone industry priorities do matter. From time to time, the consumer market changes and companies have to work and meet them to also make their cut in terms of revenue. But the fact remains –I’ve observed with smartphone…

Google yesterday launched its new lite app for Google Photos dubbed Gallery Go. Gallery Go is aimed to work best, even in areas of poor connectivity. More so, the app is only 10MB hence uses minimum storage space and is also engineered to work offline unlike Photos. Gallery Go still relies on machine learning technology to organize your photos and also includes photo editing features available in the main Photos app.  You may experience a few hiccups though, like the lack of face grouping feature, which I experienced with the new app although Google states the feature has not yet…

Google Photos, as from version 4.2, has now included live previews for videos. The update gives photos a lively view of something which was rolled out in Apple’s iOS 13 beta –for sure Google didn’t want to miss out on this one. The thumbnails will now play as long as the video is within the screen view and will automatically stop when the video leaves the screen vicinity. Video previews also play in a reverse chronological in case you have many videos placed side by side. I’m not a fan of saving videos to my gallery – but I’m sure…

Google has not been the best company when it comes to smartphone design –but the internals has been pretty good. In the Pixel 3 and 3XL, Google featured a large notch at the top –a pretty terrible job in copying iPhone X’s display notch. We have already seen what to expect at the back of the device, which is a sizeable square-ish camera bump similar to what is coming in this year’s iPhone 11 Series. However, much light about the front of the device has not been shed, just yet. There have been rumors that Pixel 4 and 4XL will…

However, Messenger web app UI has had the outdated design for years. The company has tipped a new redesign that is coming to the messenger web app, which will almost resemble the Mobile UI on iOS and Android. It’s a great move and it will also reduce programming work a similar thing which Twitter has recently implemented by copying and pasting their mobile UI to Web besides including a little more functions. Sorry dark mode…
