If you use Instagram regularly, you probably love its stories feature. It was a game-changer when it was first introduced back in 2016 and has gained popularity over the years and has led to more people spending more time on the photo and video sharing platform.
With that said, you may be bombarded with a ton of Stories from individual and business accounts that you follow. You may even have some meme or just any other account whose stories pop up from time to time. You can skip these stories but a better option may be to mute their stories.
When you mute someone’s story, they will not be notified of your actions and their stories will not appear at the top of your Instagram feed like the others. You will be able to see their stories by visiting their profile or scrolling all the way to the far right end of the stories to where you find the stories you have viewed.
In this article, we will look at ways to mute and unmute someone’s Instagram stories.
How to Mute Instagram Stories in 2022.
- Open Instagram and go to your home feed.
- Tap and hold the Instagram story icon with the photo of the person you want to mute.
- You will be presented with two options, to view their profile or mute their story, choose ‘Mute’.
- From here, you can choose to mute their stories or their posts and stories, choose the one you want.
How to unmute an Instagram Story
To unmute anyone you have muted before, there are two ways:
First option
- Scroll to the right end of the Stories to locate the greyed-out ones that you have viewed.
- Long press on the profile picture of the account you want to unmute.
- Tap the unmute option.
Second option
This is the easiest in my opinion and is perfect if you follow many people.
- Go to their profile page.
- Tap the ‘Following’ tab to see extra options.
- You will see ‘Mute’ option, turn it off if it is on.
