Android 11 was released last month after going through the beta channel for some months. Samsung was late to the beta party, but it has now opened its first public beta for users.

For Samsung users, Android 11 features will be incorporated in the upcoming One UI 3.0 update. One UI 3.0 includes all the new features available in Android 11, and other OEM specific features Samsung saw fit to include in the custom ROM.

Like the first closed beta announced in August, the public version is only available on flagship phones. And for now, it’s only the latest S series flagship phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra.

Also, the public beta is only available in the US and South Korea for now. To hop into the public beta, users have to sign in via the Samsung Members app.

SamMobile claims the beta will soon ship to China, Germany, India, Poland, and the United Kingdom. Yes, Africa isn’t on that map for now.

The One UI 3.0 update incorporates a range of new features, including minor UI tweaks and slight upgrades for general performance improvement.

New Features in Samsung One UI 3.0 based on Android 11

    • Camera – Improved the functionality and usability of auto-focus and auto-exposure. Also, One UI 3 brings improved stabilization when taking pictures of the moon at high zoom levels.
    • Photo Editor – New option to revert edited picture to the original
    • Bixby Routines – new conditions and actions added. You can also group preset routines easily.
    • Reminder – Improved layout for full-screen alerts
    • Messages – Trash bin added to allow restoration of deleted messages
    • Contacts & Phone – Enhanced search experience and you can now easily find and delete duplicate contacts
    • DeX – Added with new touchpad multi-gestures and support for wireless connection with supported TVs

Samsung has also improved accessibility, dynamic lock screen, the home screen, Always On Display, Quick Panel, Samsung Keyboard, and more.
