Orange presented the “2015 Orange AMEA Developers Challenge” prize to FarmConnecta yesterday evening during the Cairo ICT event. FarmConnecta, a Botswana-based start-up that has developed an information sharing and billing system designed for the agricultural community, received a prize valued at 10,000 euros. Airtel Kenya and Standard Chartered Bank today reiterated their commitment to offer free access to mobile banking to their customers through Airtel Money. The partnership which was first launched in 2009 when Airtel began mobile money services has seen Airtel customers who bank with Standard Chartered Bank enjoy seamless access to their bank accounts. As the court battle between BitPesa and Safaricom goes on, the Central Bank of Kenya has come forward and commented on the use of bitcoins and other digital currencies in the country. The CBK has said such digital currencies are unregulated and have been linked to money laundering and even terrorism. In a statement, the CBK said, “Domestic and international money transfer services in Kenya are regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya Act and other legislation. In this regard, no entity is currently licensed to offer money remittance services and products in Kenya using virtual currency such as Bitcoin.”…

Yesterday, Facebook confirmed that it is working on a feature that will allow you to see the friends who are writing comments. This is the same feature as you currently have on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or Google Chat where you see when someone is typing.
