Apple released iOS 27 on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, as a free update for compatible iPhones. Banking, messaging, and entertainment services, including 1xBet, all run on the same system software, so a major iOS release reaches every app on the phone indirectly. This one arrived with more than 250 changes, led by a rebuilt Siri.
Apple unveiled the update at its developer conference on June 8 and released it to the public three months later. It shipped on the same day as iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27.
What Apple Changed in iOS 27
The headline change is a redesigned Siri, which comes with a wider set of Apple Intelligence features. Apple extended those features across Safari, Mail, Image Playground, and Passwords. Beyond that, the update brings a mix of design, convenience, and family tools:
- Liquid Glass, Apple’s interface design, got refinements and a new transparency slider that adjusts how see-through menus and controls appear.
- iPhone Handoff lets a person switch between two iPhones while using the same phone number on each device, on a supported carrier.
- New parental tools were added for families managing a child’s phone.
- An upgraded CPU scheduler and rebuilt system search came to all supported iPhones.
Apple first mentioned iPhone Handoff on a slide at the June keynote without giving details, and the full description came in early September.
Which iPhones Can Install It
Anyone who keeps the 1xBet app on a compatible iPhone can open Settings, then General, then Software Update to see whether iOS 27 is offered for that device. Apple kept the same device list as iOS 26, so no iPhones lost support this year. The update runs on the iPhone 11 series and newer, and on the second-generation iPhone SE and later. That includes the iPhone Air and the 16e and 17e models.
Installing the update and getting every feature are separate questions. Siri and Apple Intelligence depend on hardware, which reports describe as three tiers:
| iPhone models | What they get |
| iPhone 11 through iPhone 15 (non-Pro) | The update and its core features, without the new Siri or Apple Intelligence |
| iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models and later | The new Siri and Apple Intelligence |
| The newest models, including the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air | Every new Siri feature |
Where Features Are Limited by Region and Language
Availability also depends on location and language. Apple said the new Siri would launch first in English, with more languages to follow. It also said the new Siri would not be available on iPhones in the European Union at launch, though it would be supported on macOS, watchOS, and visionOS in the region. The new Apple Intelligence features also remain unavailable in China while Apple works through regulatory requirements.
This means two people with the same iPhone model can see different features depending on where they live and which language they use.
How to Get the Update
The update arrives over the air. Users open Settings, then General, then Software Update, and download it from there. It is a free software upgrade.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max shipped with iOS 27 already installed. Apple opened pre-orders on Sept. 12 and put the phones in stores on Sept. 18, four days after the software update reached existing iPhones.
The Rest of Apple’s Software Lineup
iOS 27 was one of five major releases that Apple published on Sept. 14. iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 arrived the same day. The Mac release carries the name macOS Golden Gate.
The new Siri is part of that wider rollout. Apple said it would be supported on macOS, watchOS, and visionOS in the European Union, even though the iPhone and iPad versions would not offer it there at launch. At its September event, Apple also introduced new hardware that ships with the new software, including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12, and Apple Watch Ultra 4.
From Beta to Release
The path to Sept. 14 followed Apple’s usual pattern. The first developer beta arrived after the June 8 keynote, a public beta followed in July, and the sixth public beta came on Aug. 31. Apple confirmed the final release date on Sept. 9, at the event where it introduced the iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5, and Apple Watch Series 12.
