Rise of Fearless was launched in 2025 and is a free-to-play mobile battle royale game inspired by African history and culture. Its storyline draws inspiration from Ethiopia’s historic 1896 victory at the Battle of Adwa. Its characters, environments and visual designs reflect African identities and experiences.
The game has surpassed 15,000 downloads on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Nigeria, Ethiopia and South Africa account for its largest player communities.
The funding will also support the expansion of the development team, bringing in experienced international gaming executives and developers. Among the partners joining the project are Miniboss Solutions, IDG Intelligence, Trick Question Studios and Spectra Entertainment.
Commenting, Kanessa Muluneh, Founder of Rise of Fearless, said: “We couldn’t be more excited about our new team taking an African-owned gaming franchise to international distribution and commercial scale.”
The company also wants to address infrastructure challenges facing African gaming studios, including access to reliable servers, technology and cross-border payment systems.
Africa’s gaming industry is estimated to have more than 400 million gamers and gaming revenue is projected to reach US$1.98 billion in 2026.
