This is an updated version of this post as Safaricom home fibre packages were revamped recently.

Safaricom has revamped its fibre for home packages in 2024 while maintaining the same rates. The company has done this in response to Starlink’s push and growing popularity in kenya. The telco has introduced a new 1Gbps (Gigabit per second), the highest in the country so far for home internet. This is perfect for gamers or anyone who needs ultrafast internet speeds.

Besides the 1Gbps platinum package, safaricom has also increased the speeds for all its existing packages. The extra speeds range from 5Mbps for the cheapest Bronze (10Mbps) package to 400Mbps extra for the Diamond (100Mbps) package.

To purchase Home Fibre Home plans, customers can visit MySafaricom app, dial *400# or visit Safaricom shops and dealer outlets.

How much is Safaricom Home Fibre per month?

Here are the speeds as of September 2024 if you are interested to know how much Safaricom fibre costs and its speeds. Keep in mind that there is still a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limit where your speeds will be throttled after a certain limit. If you are a heavy user, make sure you choose a packahe with higher FUP and you do not want to hit your limits and get slow browsing speeds. The sweet spot in my opinion is the 30 Mbps package as it has a limit of 1 TB and is fast enough for most households.

How much is Safaricom fibre installation?

Safaricom home fibre installation is free. When you register for the service, you will get a router for free. The reason for this is to drive uptake and get as many people as possible to use the service.

How to pay for Safaricom home fibre?

You can easily pay for Safaricom home fibre by following these steps:

    • Using the mySafaricom app and selecting the HOME Internet tab.

    Payment via USSD:

    • Dial *400# and select Option 1.
    • Choose Option 1 (Pay)
    • Proceed to pay
    • Authenticate.

You can pay for Home Fibre using M-Pesa, Postpay Credit Limit or through Bonga point.

How do I know if Safaricom fibre is available in my area?
