The Tecno Phantom 9 is set to go on sale in Kenya from next week, specifically on July 15. This will be the first Phantom smartphone to be launched in over a year and we told you one of its key selling points will be the three cameras at the back.

July 15 is 7 days from now so we will not be waiting for long before the unveiling of this phone in the country. Tecno has had some good smartphones in the country this year with most of them selling well. I will be curious to see how the Phantom 9 is priced and how it performs.

With the Tecno Phantom 8, I felt the price was too high and the phone did not sell that well. In addition to this, the phone wasn’t appealing in any way, it just felt like a rushed device that was very expensive for no reason. It had good cameras but nothing else about it stood out. These are some of the things I hope Tecno will address with the Phantom 9 when it launches in the country.

With the three cameras at the back, Tecno will join most other smartphone manufacturers who have released devices with such cameras. As I have mentioned above, the Phantom 8 had really good cameras and I expect the same from the Phantom 9.

Besides the triple camera setup, we are also expecting an in-display fingerprint scanner on the Tecno Phantom 9. This will be a first for the company but not the first for the industry, we have seen this fingerprint scanner on some other devices before. It is still a new technology and Tecno is not late to the party.

Let us look at some of the specifications of this phone.
