The third preview version of Android O has finally been released. This update was released yesterday afternoon to the public for those who want to play around with it and see what Google is working on before the official version is released later this year.

The latest developer preview is part of the Public Beta program and is relatively stable than the previous version. Even with that said, keep in mind that this software, like any preview software released before its public release, may have some bugs.

The latest version has hints of some of the key themes that Google presented at its annual developer conference several weeks ago. With this release, you will be getting Project Treble and Fluid Experiences that we expect to see on Android O when it is made public later this year. Project Treble is an interesting one as it will allow Android devices to get timely updates directly from Android without the help of vendors.

Project Treble will be in all Android versions from Android O. Project Treble code was included in the first Developer Preview of Android O that was released for Google Pixel Phones.

You can get Android O Preview 3 using this link. When there, if you have devices that are work with the Android O Beta Program, they will be given access to the latest version of Android. Keep in mind that you will not be able to download the update on just any phone, at the moment Google is limiting access to a few devices including the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Pixel and Pixel XL.

As you can see from the list above, access is currently limited to Nexus and Pixel devices. Google may decide to expand that and allow other Android devices to join the Android Beta Program at some point. If this happens, it will do so as we get close to the public release of Android O.
