Samsung introduced the Galaxy J5 and J7 last year as it tries to capture the neglected Lower mid-range smartphone segment. These smartphones went on to sell very well and especially the Galaxy J5 which was popular thanks to its high performance camera unit.

For 2016, Samsung plans to upgrade these devices to the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016). These two devices will be released anytime from today as they have already been certified by the relevant authorities in different countries. We first saw these phones earlier this month and now we have information that they might have metallic frames.

The information about the metallic frames comes from a pair of user manual found on Samsung servers. Including metallic frames on the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) will definitely make them more appealing and will help them stand out from competition.

The user manual does not divulge much information about these devices from what we already know. Some of the additional information it shares include the antenna slits but we are not interested in these since we normally write from a consumer’s perspective.

The good thing that the metallic frames will be paired with metal removable back covers giving you access to the battery; this is definitely a nice move. We don’t see many smartphones with removable batteries these days and am personally of the opinion that manufacturers should let consumers have that option just for the sake of it.

Some of the specs expected on the Galaxy J5 (2016) include:

    Display Size: 5.2 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels

    Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 410

    Processor: Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53

    RAM: 2 GB

Storage Space: 16 GB expandable to 128GB

    Android Version: Android 5.1 Lollipop

    Network: Supports 4G LTE

Camera: 13MP at the back with a 5MP one in front

As for the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016), here is a look at some of its specs:

    Display Size: 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels

    Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 650

    Processor: Dual-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A72 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53

    RAM: 3 GB

Storage Space: 16 GB expandable to 128GB

    Android Version: Android 5.1 Lollipop

    Network: Supports 4G LTE

Camera: 13MP at the back with a 5MP one in front

    Expected launch

Samsung will be launching these two phones anytime from today probably later this month or early next month. Keep it here to be informed when these two smartphones are launched.
