Nokia Is Not Planning a Comeback into the Smartphone Market

We have been hearing rumours that Nokia was planning to make a comeback into the Smartphone market in 2016. Nokia’s Smartphone division was sold to Microsoft a few months ago and the agreement states that Nokia cannot use its brand on any Smartphone until the end of 2016.

Well the rumours are not true and it looks like Nokia will not be making a comeback after all. Nokia has released a statement to refute the claims. The company is quoted saying, “no intention to manufacture or sell consumer handsets”.

This statement only says that Nokia has no plans to sell or manufacture Smartphones and did not mention anything to do with designing of Smartphones. This means that Nokia may still design Smartphones and sell them under a different brand. Nokia is already doing this with the N1 tablet that it has designed in house but manufactured and commercialized it through Foxconn.

We will be keen to see what Nokia does in the end, hopefully the company makes a comeback of some way into the Smartphone market.
