Having completed an extensive migration of its customers and content onto the globally scaled Peacock platform in February, the Showmax team have continued to work to ensure that its customers find it effortless to afford and access the stories they love.

For Joe Heshu, Showmax Chief Operating Officer, the M-Pesa integration has been a key priority for the brand whose goal is to be the No 1 streamer in Africa. “We want our customers to have a great streaming experience and that means delivering content, payment methods, and features that enable this. We’ve worked with our long-time partners at Safaricom to ensure that the process of bringing M-Pesa onto the platform was managed, tested, and rolled out to customers as quickly as possible.”

“Our goal is to provide Kenyans freedom, choice and control over the content they consume. By integrating M-Pesa to Showmax, we are empowering our customers to enjoy their favourite shows with ease and convenience,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO Safaricom PLC.

Looking forward, Showmax East Africa GM, Emma Gichonge, says they’re focused on the upcoming content slate. “I’m delighted that customers can now use M-Pesa on the platform to pay for Showmax. M-Pesa was a world-first, innovated in Kenya, and it’s fitting to have it available and in action as our new Kenyan titles launch – Big Girl Small WorldUntying Kantai, Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Nairobi and Nilichoma (coming to Showmax on 28 May).”

She concludes, “Showmax’s future in Kenya is very bright. New content, new products at very competitive prices, and our new #ShikaShowmax campaign are just the start.”
