The Latest Telegram Adds Voice Chat Scheduling, Payments Update, and Two New Web Apps

telegram april 2021 update 1

Telegram has released another update to its desktop and mobile apps. The new update is big as it introduces a variety of features on the platform.

The first, and probably the most exciting of all, is the launch of two new Telegram web apps. Both apps are fully stocked with Telegram’s latest features. They will operate separately, giving users three different web apps to choose from. You can use the new web apps on any platform, whether it’s on mobile or desktop. You can try out the two here;

Voice Chat Scheduling

Scheduled voice chats are also available on Telegram. As a Telegram channel or group admin, you can set a schedule for your voice chat by choosing a specific time and date. Users will see the countdown at the top of the chat, and they can opt to receive a notification once the voice chat starts.

To schedule a voice chat:

On Androidtap > Start Voice chat > Schedule Voice Chat. On iOS, tap the Voice Chat button and select Schedule Voice Chat.

Admins will still have to tap “Start Now” even when the counter reaches zero, so don’t worry about the voice chat going live when you’re not ready.

Telegram is also improving its Payments feature with a new feature that allows merchants to accept credit card payments in any chat. It’s also adding tipping and, payments can be made using Telegram desktop apps.

Media Features

Pinch to zoom is a lot easier on Telegram as the latest update allows you to do that without tapping to open the media viewer – you can do this directly from the chat.

Another improvement to media on Telegram is enhancements to the in-app video player with new ways to forward and rewind videos. Press and hold the right to forward on Android, and vice versa. You can also, alternatively, double-tap to skip 10s forward or backward on Android.

The new version is available on Android and iOS. For Android, you’ll have to directly download the app from telegram.org since it’s not yet available on Google Play Store.
