After weeks of teasing, the Infinix Zero 8 has officially been launched. This comes days after its sister company, Tecno, unveiled the Camon 16 Premier in Kenya which you can get for as low as Ksh 28,500.

The Infinix Zero 8 shares a lot with the Camon 16 Premier but in this post we will not be comparing the two.

We did not see the Infinix Zero 7 and the Infinix Zero 6 was unveiled in early 2019 so it has been a while since we saw a phone in this series. This is one of the handful of devices Infinix has unveiled in Kenya the last few months and as I work on the full review, I thought I should share a few things you need to know about it.

    The Price

The most important thing you may want to know is the price. The phone is available on Jumia for Ksh 28,999. This puts it right in the same segment as the Camon 16 Premier and the recently announced realme 6. All these are very powerful smartphones and I will be comparing them at a later date and sharing my experiences on which one is better.

    90Hz Refresh Rate Display

The Infinix Zero 8 has a 6.85-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. This is the first phone from the company with this refresh rate and one of the handful that you can get in Kenya for less than Ksh 30,000.

A 90Hz refresh rate display renders images 90 times per second. With this, there is less motion blur when scrolling through the display and this should translate to overall smooth experience and image quality. You may not necessarily tell the difference unless you really look closely but it is still nice to have it.

    6 Cameras

The Infinix Zero 8 comes with a total of 6 cameras, two for selfies and 4 at the back. Do you really need all these cameras? That is a question you will have to answer yourself.

The back camera setup is made up of a 64MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide sensor, 2MP depth sensor and another 2MP sensor that I am not sure what it does. I have used the phone for a while and I have been impressed so far. The Super night mode really does make a difference as you can see from the shots below. The left photo is normal mode at night and the one on the right is with super night mode on.

The front facing camera setup is made up of a 48MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. The shots are very clear with the front camera with enough details to rival any other smartphone camera out there.

    8GB RAM

The Infinix Zero 8 comes with 8GB of RAM. For multitasking, this is very promising and so far I have not had any problems switching between multiple apps.

Besides the RAM capacity, the Zero 8 has some other power internals including the Helio G90T processor that powers it. This processor should be good for day to day use and even for gaming. I have used this processor before and performance has been good and so has it been on the Zero 8. I have played most intensive games with ease.

    33W Fast Charging

    Infinix zero 8 back

The Infinix Zero 8 comes with a 4500 mAh battery that is quite massive and should last for an entire day with moderate to heavy use. With such a huge battery, charging may take time but with the Zero 8, that will not be the case. The phone supports 33W fast charging that should charge the battery from 0 to 70% in just 30 minutes.
