Spotify Starts Testing New UI for Real-Time Lyrics Sync Feature

spotify android

Spotify is finally testing a new lyrics UI within the App. For long Spotify has lagged behind on lyrics sync, one of the most crucial features on every music streaming app.

The first time we got news on such a feature was in November when the company confirmed it is testing a real-time lyrics sync feature. But now, these tests have further continued but still not yet ready for the general public.

Recent reports show that the Lyrics banner is available either on the bottom of the media control buttons when viewing a song art or next to the play/pause button in the mini-player.

The lyrics UI minimizes the song album art and gives priority to the real-time lyrics. As reported earlier, the real-time lyrics sync feature powered by Musix Match.

To date, there’s no solid launch date for this feature.

Spotify’s Business

Spotify is still the world’s largest music streaming app, and ended 2019 with 35% market share, followed by Apple Music which holds a 19 percent share, according to research firm CounterPoint Research. Spotify recorded a 23% YoY growth in total revenue, noted the research firm.
