The Pocophone F1 smartphone by Xiaomi is finally getting a taste of Android 10. This was one of the popular smartphones the company launched back in 2018 and it’s good to finally see it get the update.

With Android 10 update, the Pocophone F1 will be getting MIUI version 11.0.4 that is bundled with the January 1 Android security patch. The update is available to all users who are running MIUI 10 and even those who installed MIUI 11 stable beta.

If you have the Pocophone F1 and have the MIUI version mentioned above, you should get a notification of the update on your phone any minute. If you do not get one, you can manually check for the update under your phone’s Settings menu. This is a major software update that is about 1.9GB in size so make sure you have unlimited and stable internet before updating.

The Pocophone F1 came with Android 8.1 Oreo when it was launched and it’s good to see it is getting two major Android OS updates.

With this update you will be getting some of the key Android 10 features as well as small changes including scrolling screenshots, Game Turbo and a fix of the notification shade.

    POCO A standalone brand

This update comes a few days after it was revealed that Poco is becoming a standalone brand and not necessarily a sub-brand of Xiaomi. This was revealed by Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi’s Global VP and Managing Director of Xiaomi India.

Excited to share: #POCO will now be an independent brand!

What started as a sub-brand within Xiaomi, has grown into its own identity. POCO F1 was an incredibly popular phone. We feel the time is right to let POCO operate on its own.

Join me in wishing @IndiaPOCO all the best.

It makes sense to have Poco stand on its own as it will be able to innovate independently of its mother company. Even with that said, we will be watching keenly what Poco has in store for us as the brand has not been that active since the launch of the Pocophone F1, hopefully it will surprise us with an amazing device this year.
