Not so long ago, we told you that Vivo has plans to launch the Vivo Y19 smartphone in Kenya. This is the latest from the company to launch in the country and you can get it locally for Ksh 27,000.

With the launch of the Vivo Y19 in Kenya, the company is expanding its Y series to 5 devices. The other 4 are the Vivo Y12, Y15, Y17 and Y90. This is the company’s entry level series with devices available in different price segments.

At Ksh 27,000, the Vivo Y19 is competitively priced and will be head to head with the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 and even the Huawei Y9s that we saw towards the end of last year. This segment is very competitive and Vivo wans to conquer it.

The 5,000 mAh battery, triple camera setup at the back, FullView display and premium design are some of the things that make the Vivo Y19 stand out. This is what the company says and will be using when marketing this phone locally. For me, the 5000 mAh battery is the winner, we are used to seeing big batteries on cheaper phones and they seem to be making their way to the mid rangers.

‘As a leading smartphone brand, we are keen on strengthening connection with our customers and partners to meet the increasing demand for quality devices and better user experience in this market. We are aiming to offer more options of devices with high quality standard and comprehensive functionality at an affordable price.’ Said Mr. Arthur Xian, CEO Vivo Kenya.

The Vivo Y19 just like all the other Y series devices is made for the youth. This is the series from the company that I will have my eye on this year. I am expecting good surprises here as Vivo has reiterated that they are serious players in this market and 2020 is the year to see that.

I will be looking for a unit to review and if I happen to get one from the company, will share my experience here.

Below are some of the key specifications of the Vivo Y19.

Display: 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution
