The incredible Huawei’s lower mid-range device, Huawei Y9 Prime 2019, is being seeded out with Android 10. And as usual to Huawei devices, the update ships with the company’s proprietary Android skin (EMUI) splashed on top. The latest EMUI version based on Android 10 is EMUI 10.

EMUI 10 is more refined than its predecessor EMUI 9.1 and tops it up with all the goodies Google ships inside Android 10.

The company has refined several aspects of the UI, though subtle, they make the phone joyful to use.

EMUI 10 has larger app icons implemented continuously across the system, a new color scheme, and smooth transitions ensure easier navigation, accessibility, and, more importantly, better readability across the phone. There are also subtle changes implemented to the system icons and UI elements.

I won’t forget to mention the presence is a system-wide dark theme now available on the Y9 Prime 2019. To toggle this feature, go to your Settings app under the “Display & brightness” section.

In-app changes have been brought in the Gallery app as well as the Camera app, which have both been tweaked in various delicate ways.

However, Huawei’s EMUI 10 misses out on one critical thing – the latest Android security patch. The current update is only bundled with the November security patch.
