Android 10 was announced recently and we have been expecting device manufacturers to reveal to us the list of their devices that will get this new version of Android. Xiaomi has unveiled its list and it is quite extensive and to be honest this is what we need and expect from other manufacturers too.

Xiaomi revealed this list yesterday as it unveiled the new Mi 9 Pro and the Mi Mix Alpha smartphones. At the same event, the company also showcased its latest custom interface, MIUI 11, that is based on Android 10. Isn’t it weird that MIUI iterations do not match the Android version they are based on, in this case, MIUI 11 is based on Android 10, that just bugs me.

With MIUI 11, users should expect a more polished UI with new features that were not there in the previous version. When rolling out MIUI 11, Xiaomi will do so starting with its latest devices before moving to the older ones.

    Phase 1 (October)

The first phase of the update will happen in mid-October and will see the following devices get the update.

    • Redmi 7/ Redmi Note 7/ Redmi Note 7 Pro

    Phase 2 (End of October)

The second phase will happen towards the end of October and these are the devices on that list.

    • Mi 9 Pro 5G
    • Mi CC 9/ CC 9e
    • Mi MIX 2
    • Mi Note3
    • Mi 6/ Mi 6X
    • Redmi 7A
    • Redmi 6 Pro
    • Redmi Note 5
    • Redmi 6A/ Redmi 6
    • Redmi S2

    Phase 3 (November)

The last phase will be in November and these are the phones on the list.

    • Mi Mix
    • Mi 5s/ Mi 5s Plus
    • Mi 5X
    • Mi 5C
    • Mi Note2
    • Mi Play
    • Mi Max 2
    • Redmi Note 8/ Redmi Note 8 Pro
    • Redmi 5A/ Redmi 5 Plus/ Redmi 5
    • Redmi 4X
    • Redmi Note 5A

    What is with MIUI 11?

So, what are users getting? For starters, system-wide dark mode, a native Android 10 feature, is rolling out to these devices. The icons will also be slightly softer, new animation, themes, improved notification system, new system font among other visual changes.

With MIUI 11, Xiaomi also says that customers should expect improved audio experience with dynamic natural sound effects. If some of these features intrigue you, the public beta of MIUI 11 will be available in two days, on September 27, and the full version will be available from mid-October.
