WhatsApp For Kai OS Can Now Be Downloaded through the KaiStore

WhatsApp for Kai OS

You may have not heard about Kai OS but do not feel bad about it as it is a relatively new light operating system that is made for smart feature phones and not many people have heard about it. The Nokia 8110 4G is one of the phones that is powered by this OS. It got it through an update but since it supports the OS, it might be one of the phones you know of that supports this OS.

Most of these feature phones are made for developing markets where WhatsApp is a very popular messaging platform. Of course, it is not the only form of communication but it is popular compared to other messaging services.

For Kai OS users, WhatsApp has only been available for the Nokia 8110 4G and the JioPhone. Again, you may have never heard of JioPhone but it is very popular in India. Having WhatsApp for the JioPhone and the Nokia 81110 4G only locked out most other users of Kai OS but that is changing now.

WhatsApp can now be downloaded by any Kai OS users through the KaiStore. The app available through the store has been optimized to run on smartphones with low RAM of either 256MB or 512MB. These are pretty low-end feature phones that will finally be able to run the most popular messaging platform.

There are currently 12 smartphones running Kai OS with 8 of them having 512MB of RAM and the rest have 256MB. Here is a list of the supported devices.

  • Alcatel Go Flip 2
  • Cat B35
  • Doro 7050 and 7060
  • JioPhone (Reliance Jio)
  • JioPhone 2 (Reliance Jio)
  • MaxCom 241
  • MTN Smart
  • Multilaser ZAPP
  • Nokia 8110 (HMD Global)
  • Orange Sanza
  • Positivo P70S
  • WizPhone WP006

Kai OS Growth

Kai OS may not be a household name but it is being reported that over 100 million phones with the OS have been shipped to over 100 countries. This is not a small number and is the reason why WhatsApp saw it fit to have the official app available through the store.

WhatsApp will come pre-installed in most Kai OS smartphones in the coming months.  The app is used by over 1.5 billion people globally and this number is expected to go up.
