If you are a regular user of Instagram Stories, you should brace yourself to see more ads when using that feature. The company announced this a couple of days ago revealing that users should expect more paid advertisements on their stories.
Instagram shared a blog post on its website which said that advertisers will now be able to place three pieces of media in one ad. Previously, advertisers were limited to only having one piece of media and this will all change according to the Facebook-owned company.
“Carousel Ads for Instagram Stories behave the same way as other Stories content, meaning you can tap through, swipe back and forth or pause the content whenever you’d like,” the company said. With the latest changes, the company says that advertisers will be able to add depth to their storytelling just as the other users in the community do. This is good news for advertisers but I am just not sure how Instagram users will take it. I just hope Instagram does not decide to flood ads on Stories as that will be more of a negative than a positive.
Some advertisers including Coca-Cola have already taken advantage of the new Carousel Ads by Instagram.
These latest changes are just some of the moves Instagram has been making as it aims to attract advertisers to the platform. Last year, the company chose to go with the algorithm-based timeline that was seen as a move that will make it possible and easier to place ads on the timeline. This was just one of the big changes the company implemented and I expect more this year. Instagram has to make more money for Facebook as it is seen as the go to platform for younger users.
