When HMD Global brought back the new Nokia smartphones, it said that these devices will be getting the latest Android software updates as soon as they are available. This is because these new Nokia phones comes with near stock Android and this means that HMD does not need so much time to tweak the software before pushing out the update to its users.

HMD also promised that it had plans to update all existing Nokia smartphones with Android Oreo before the end of the year. We are about 6 weeks to the end of 2017 and HMD has kept its word and is pushing out Android Oreo update for its current flagship, the Nokia 8.

This was confirmed by the company’s Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas on Twitter. He said that the company took user feedback into consideration and polished the update which is pushing out today. Android Oreo beta build for the Nokia 8 has been around for a while and those who were part of the program are the ones who have been testing it. With the company happy with the beta build, it has decided to finally push out the final build to all users.

At this point, Android Oreo is rolling out to the Nokia 8, it will get to the other Nokia smartphones at a date that is yet to be confirmed. Since these devices come with pretty much the same software, I expect them to get the update very soon.

If you bought or are planning to buy the Nokia 2, Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 7 and Nokia 8, you will not only get Android Oreo but also Android P when it will be available in 2018. HMD promised this last month showing how committed it is to the ecosystem.

The update has just started rolling out so give it time to get to you if you do not have it already. Below is a look at some of the key Nokia 8 specifications.
