OPPO has finally introduced its latest smartphone, the OPPO F5, to the Kenyan market. The company made the announcement today saying that pre-orders will be accepted as from tomorrow, November 21, and the device will officially be available in retail stores as from November 28 as the pro-order period comes to an end. You can pre-order the OPPO F5 in Kenya from any of the OPPO branded shops you see around.

The OPPO F5 is yet another camera phone from the company but its says that it comes with a twist. The selfie camera is a 20MP unit with A.I beauty recognition technology that the company says will personalize the beautification of subjects according to the facial features and the surrounding environment. With this, the company says the selfie experience will be improved and be better than what you get from the OPPO F3.

The OPPO F5 will be available for Ksh 31,990, within the same price range the OPPO F3 was available for. This is not cheap but OPPO says at this price you will be getting the same specs and experience you will have if you get a much more expensive device from manufacturers such as Samsung. Still on the price, this is almost what manufacturers such as Infinix and Tecno are offering their recent device for. The Infinix Zero 4 Pro is available for Ksh 30,000 while the Tecno Phantom 8 is available for much more at Ksh 37,000.

Besides the standard OPPO F5 which has 4GB of RAM, there will be another version with 6GB RAM and a slightly cheaper version, the OPPO F5 Youth. The price of the 6GB variant will be Ksh 39,000 and will be available later in the year. As for the OPPO F5 Youth, it will be available at the beginning of 2018 but its official price is yet to be announced.

    Camera is Still King

As you may have already figured out, the main selling point of the OPPO F5 is its camera. As mentioned above, its selfie camera is a 20MP one with a F2.0 aperture and a 1/2.8” sensor. OPPO says this combination allows the camera to gain more information and thus ensure the images produced are good and have less noise in low light conditions.

The back camera is a 16MP unit. OPPO has not included a dual camera setup on the F5 and I am not disappointed. From the few minutes I have spent with the phone, the quality is good. This camera has the F1.8 aperture that OPPO says is perfect for both bright and dark environments.
