Depending on how well you follow the latest tech news, you may or may not know about the OnePlus 5. This smartphone was launched late last month and is the latest flagship device from the company and its 6th smartphone ever. Yes, OnePlus has only released 6 smartphones so far and its latest one, the OnePlus 5, is available in Kenya.

The OnePlus 5 is available on online retailer, Avechi for Ksh 59,000 for the 6GB RAM/64GB ROM model and Ksh 70,000 for the 8GB RAM/128GB ROM model. So far, I have only seen these devices on Avechi so I will assume this is the only place you can get them and these are the best prices, this might change in the future though.

The two variants of the OnePlus have similar specs except for the RAM and storage space differences. The 8GB model looks like a beast on paper but the question is, do you need all that RAM? That’s all up to you.

Below are some of the key specifications of the OnePlus 5.

    Display Size: 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels

    Chipset: Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835

    CPU: Octa-core (4×2.45 GHz Kryo & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo)

    RAM: 6 GB/ 8GB

    GPU: Adreno 540

Storage Space: 64 GB/128GB no SD card slot

    Android Version: Android 7.1.1 Nougat

    Network: Supports 2G, 3G and 4G

Camera: 13MP at the back with a 5MP one in front

    Battery: 3300 mAh

Are these specs worth Ksh 59,000 and 70,000? If so, get over to Avechi and get this phone.
