The Nokia 6 is Going Global

At Mobile World Congress 2017, HMD Global unveiled three Nokia phones, the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the all new Nokia 3310. The company also announced that it has plans to take the Nokia 6 to other global markets. The Nokia 6 was launched earlier this year at CES 2017 but is only available in China at the moment. Those in other markets had to import the phone using other channels and this meant that they had to buy them at much higher prices.

When announcing this, Nokia and HMD Global said that the Nokia 6 “embraces much-loved Nokia phone hallmarks of quality, superior craftsmanship, and relentless focus on the consumer experience”.

The Nokia 6 will be available in other markets the same time the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 smartphones will be available. This will be during Q2 of 2017. The retail price of the Nokia 6 is about 229 Euros (approximately Ksh 25,000).

The Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5 inch full HD display that is covered by 2.5D Gorilla Glass. It is beautifully made from a single block of 6000-series aluminium. Powering this phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor that is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space. It comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

For the camera, the Nokia 6 has a 16MP unit at the back and an 8MP front facing one. Nokia phones were known for their impressive cameras and I expect the same from the Nokia 6.

Besides the standard Nokia 6, the company will also be releasing the Nokia 6 Arte Black that will have the same specs but with a different finish. This phone will be slightly more expensive than the standard Nokia 6.

Below is a look at the specs of the Nokia 6
