Nova launchers is undoubtedly one of the most popular third party launchers out there. I have been using it for years and to be honest I prefer it over stock launchers you get on most smartphones these days. The launcher is perfect for those who want a near stock Android experience on their devices.
Nova has just celebrated five years on the market and the company is rolling out version 5 of its popular launcher. The launcher borrows a few things from the Google Pixel Launcher that came with the new Pixel phones that were launched recently. Since Google isn’t being generous with the Pixel Launcher, it looks like Nova will be our only option for now.
The new launcher brings the Pixel-style app drawer that users can access by swiping up from the home screen. This means that the space is not occupied by the app drawer all the time. This app drawer has a search bar that is there to make it easier for you to search for the specific apps that you want. With this, there is no need of scrolling though the different apps just to open the one you want.
Android 7.1 Nougat saw the introduction of launcher shortcuts and this is present on Nova Launcher version 5.0. This is cool as you can get it without updating your phone, all you need is the latest version of Nova.
Besides the Pixel-Launcher inspirations, you get some other new features with Nova 5.0 including Recent, Frequent, and New tabs in the app drawer search. With this, you will be able to easily go to the app you want. These are just some of the main additions with Nova 5.0, you can check out some of the other features on
If these features sound interesting to you, head over to the play store and grab the updated Nova Launcher.
