You probably already know about the fire hazard incident some Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users have reported. This issue resulted in some Galaxy Note 7 devices exploding when being charged and Samsung has even admitted this problem exists and has even halted sales and recalled some of the units shipped to customers.

With this, Oculus, the company’s whose technology powers the Samsung Gear VR, has come forward and instructed its customer not to use the phablet with the VR headset. The company says that users should not use the Galaxy Note 7 with the Gear VR until they get their phone’s replaced.

A statement from Oculus reads, “Please note: Samsung has issued a product exchange program for all Note7 devices due to battery issues. Don’t use your Note7 with Gear VR until you get your replacement. Contact Samsung directly with any questions.” On top of this, the company has sent out emails to Gear VR users with the same warning.

Oculus has not explained anything about the risk involved, the company is probably being cautious at this point just to keep its customers safe. The only thing the company said in the email sent to Gear VR users is “your safety is our number one priority.” This probably means that there is the risk of the Galaxy Note 7 exploding if you use it with the Gear VR. This has not happened yet but it’s better to be safe that sorry right?
