Huawei is Set to Unveil Two Smartphones at IFA 2016

Huawei in Kenya

Huawei is currently working on two smartphones that it plans to release tomorrow at its IFA event. IFA 2016 officially starts in two days (on September 2) but Huawei wants to launch these two devices before that.

We had expected to see the Huawei Mate 9 at the event but an executive inside Huawei said that the company is using the event to introduce a new mid-range series and that the Mate 9 will not be there. For those waiting for the Mate 9, the company is yet to confirm when it will be unveiled, my guess at this point is we may see it later in the year in October or November.

Back to its IFA 2016 event, one of the devices we expect to see is the Huawei Nova that is said to be designed with women in mind. It is not clear what that is supposed to mean and we will have to wait a few more hours to learn more.

Huawei’s Device CEO, Richard Yu, has gone to Weibo to tease the two devices that it will be unveiling tomorrow.  Below are the two photos.

The images do not reveal much about the devices. This is a new smartphone series and it is not strange to see the company be very secretive about it. From the photos, it looks like both devices have metallic frames, one of the two has what looks like a full metal construction while the other one has what looks like a glass back.

That is all we can infer from the photos shared above, we will know more tomorrow.
