Instagram Business Profiles Have Started Rolling Out to Some Users in Kenya

A few days ago, we told you that Instagram had started testing out its new business profiles with users in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. These profiles allow you to manage your business profile the way you would do it with a Facebook page. These profiles have just started rolling out to users in Kenya, we got the notification to turn TechArena’s Instagram profile into a business profile a few hours ago.

When you start the process of turning your Instagram profile into a page, you will be required to log in Via Facebook and then choose a business page that you want your new Instagram business profile to be linked to. You will need to have a Facebook page that you are an admin on for this to work.

The whole process is quick and fast and takes less than a minute. When done, you will then be able to verify your contact information and you are good to go.

Why A business profile/account?

So you may be asking, why switch to a business profile? With Instagram business profiles, a Contact button is displayed at the top of your profile just below your ‘post’ count. From the Contact button, users will be able to reach you directly from Instagram. When users tap on the Contact button, they can choose to call, email or get your location on a map. If you do not want people to call you, you can set it so that they only text you. This is convenient for users as they do not have to click on the link that sends them to your site.

With business profiles, you also get an analytics tool that gives you the impressions, reach, and follower information. Keep in mind that you will only get insights on posts you created after switching to the business profile. The analytics page can be accessed by tapping the Chart icon on the top right corner of your business page.

Inside the Insight page, you will be able to see the impressions, reach, follower information and clicks to website for the week. The follower information allows you to see their total number, breakdown by gender, age range, top location and the time when most of your followers are online. This information is vital when running ads.

You will be able to access analytics for specific posts by tapping on it and choosing the ‘view insights’ option. There is also an option that allows you to promote posts directly from Instagram but am yet to see it on my end. I will update you when it is available.
