Samsung is believed to be working on three variants of its next smartwatch, the Gear S3, that will be unveiled before the end of the year. This is according to a report by SamMobile that reveals that the three variants will be the Gear S3 Classic, Gear S3 Explorer and the Gear S3 Frontier. The three will have a lot of similarities with a few differences here and there.

According to the report by SamMobile, the Gear S3 Explorer will come with buttons that correspond to the two, four and ten positions on the watch face. Nothing much is known about the Gear S3 Classic at this point but it is believed that it won’t be very different compared to the Gear S2 which was launched last year.

The Gear S3 Frontier on the other hand is expected to come with a Rotary bezel, a bunch of new sensors including a speedometer, barometer and altimeter. These are all the necessary sensors for those who live and active lifestyle. Besides these, the Gear S3 Frontier will have a design that makes it easy to switch wristbands.

From the information we have, we expect Samsung to unveil all these smartwatches early next month at IFA 2016. Samsung has not officially confirmed this thought but it looks highly likely since the Gear S2 was unveiled at IFA 2015.

We still don’t know if Samsung will settle for the names we have shared above when it unveils the smartwatches. As for pricing and availability, we are not sure if all the smartwatches will be available in all markets at the same time. Samsung is very good at segmentation and may make some variants available in certain markets and not others depending on their prices and target markets.
