Android Marshmallow is coming to the Asus ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone Selfie

One thing that you should look out for when searching for a new smartphone is how often the manufacturer supports its devices. If the manufacturer does not support its devices with new updates, do not waste your time with them as you do not want to have a device that will never get updated.

Asus is one company that has tried to update some of its existing devices with the latest updates. The company hasn’t done so well when compared to big names such as LG and Samsung but has done quite well compared to some other manufacturers that have not bothered updating their devices. The company recently updated the ZenFone Laser and ZenFone Max and now is adding more device to the list.

The new devices that are getting the Marshmallow treatment are the ZenFone Zoom and the ZenFone Selfie. These devices are getting Android Marshmallow 8 months after the OS was officially released and a few months before the next iteration, Android Nougat. Even if the update came late, at least it’s finally here.

The update brings with it the usual Android Marshmallow features and removes some apps which you might say are bloatware.

On the ZenFone Zoom, Asus is removing the Asus Backup, Google Play Books, Games, and Newsstand, Google+, and ZenFlash. If you have this device and use these apps, you will still be able to download them from the Play Store. In addition to the apps mentioned above, you will be able to get rid of a few additional ones by factory resetting your device, these apps include Asus Email, Asus Calendar, Asus Messaging, Asus Browser and Asus Music.

As for the Asus ZenFone Selfie, you get the same treatment but here even more apps are axed from the list. These apps include Mirror, Omlet, and Dr. Eye in addition to the apps removed from the ZenFone Zoom.

If you have any of the devices mentioned above, you should expect a notification of the update very soon. Be patient if you don’t have it just yet as it may take time before rolling out to all users.
