Back in February, Asus released a list of some of its smartphone models that it plans to update to Android Marshmallow this year. The smartphones he company plans to update to Marshmallow include the Zenfone 2, Zenfone 2 Laser, Zenfone Max, Zenfone Selfies, Zenfone Zoom among others. A few months after it made the announcement, Asus went ahead to update the Zenfone 2 Laser and the Zenfone Max.

The company is still committed to updating its other 2015 devices and is currently rolling out Android Marshmallow to the Zenfone 2 ZE551ML and ZE550ML. The Zenfone 2 was announced back in January 2015 and came in two main models of 2GB and 4GB of RAM. The phone was popular thanks to its premium specs at an affordable price tag.

Now to the Marshmallow update itself, Asus is pushing it over-the-air to users of the Zenfone 2. The update is about 1.1 GB in size meaning that you need a reliable Wi-Fi connection to successfully download it.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Zenfone 2 removes a ton on bloatware, bugs and introduces all the Marshmallow features you may have heard of. The update may have arrived just a few months before we see the next Android iteration, Android N, but am sure all those who own this device will be happy to have it in the end.

Since the update has just started rolling out, not all users will have it at the same time. It may take time before you get it on your device. If you cannot wait for it to be available on your device, you can update your device manually by following the instructions here.
