Evernote gets a key update that sees the integration with Google drive for easier file access

Evernote is one of the most popular productivity apps out there. I have been using Evernote for a while now on both my laptop and phone and to be honest it is one of the best, if not the best, productivity platforms in the world.

If you have used it, you will be happy to know that it is getting an important update that will see it integrate with Google Drive. With this update, you will be able to access your Google Drive files directly from Evernote. Before this, the only way to do this was to link up to the Drive file and this means that for you access the file you had to leave Evernote. This update eliminates that altogether.

The update brings a Google Drive icon to Evernote that will take you to the specific file you want to work on. When you edit or make changes to the Drive file, they are automatically reflected on the Evernote version.

A statement from Evernote reads in part, “More than half of all Evernote users also have a Google Account. Now, everyone using Google Drive can access their Drive files in Evernote. Get ready for a rich, intuitive experience where your ideas can flow. There’s no more switching between apps, so your thinking isn’t interrupted.”

According to Evernote, over half it users have Google accounts and this is the main reason for this integration.

“Making Drive content available in Evernote was very natural for us,” said Alex Vogenthaler, Group Product Manager for Google Drive. “Evernote is a great productivity tool and we want anyone using Drive to have access to their content whenever and wherever they’re trying to get stuff done. That’s the cloud at its best.”
