Infinix Hot 3 Unboxing and First Impressions

Infinix Hot 3 Unboxing 1

The Infinix Hot 3 was officially launched in Kenya earlier this month to take over from the Hot 2 which was launched late last year. The Hot 3 is available for Ksh 7,899 which makes it one of the cheapest smartphones you can get in the country at the moment. The phone is available exclusively on Kilimall so that’s where you should head to if you want to buy it.

In the box you get:

Charger + Cable

And here is the phone!!

The Infinix Hot 3 has an attractive design when compared to that of the Hot 2. It is slightly cured on the edges at the back and this makes it easier to hold and carry around. The back cover is made of plastic and is detailed with a fine diamond texture giving it a slightly better look and most importantly it gives it some grip so that it doesn’t slip of your hands when you are holding it.

The phone has a 5.5 inch display with noticeable bezels so you know it’s not small. Even with this size, I found the phone easy to hold and use with one hand thanks to the slightly curved back and the textured back cover.

You get the usual ports and buttons on this phone with the headphone jack and the Micro USB port (for charging and data transfers) on the top and the volume and power buttons on the right hand side. The microphone is the only thing on the lower side of the phone.

At the back you get the 8MP camera with LED flash and the speaker grille. At the front you get the 2MP camera with soft flash and some sensors. Infinix is marketing this as a selfie smartphone and I will be keen to see how the camera performs as I review the phone.

The back cover is removable and doing this gives you access to the 3000 mAh battery which is also removable, the two Micro SIM card slots and the microSD card slot that can get your storage space to 32GB.

First impressions

For the short time I have used the Infinix Hot 3, I have really liked its design and the way it’s built. It is not a fancy design but it is very commendable for an entry level smartphone. The phone feels comfortable on the hand and most importantly does not feel cheap.

The only issue I have had with this phone is that performance feels a bit slow when multitasking and when installing new apps. Keep in mind that am saying the performance is slow as am coning from using more premium device in terms of performance so I may have been expecting a bit more from the phone. All in all, my experience has been good so far

I have been using the Infinix Hot 3 for a few days now and this means you should expect the full review sometime next week. In the meantime, you can go ahead and read our review of the Tecno Boom J8 using the link at the end of the article.
