The Xiaomi Mi 5 to be launched on February 24

Xiaomi is currently working on a new smartphone that is set to see the light of day next month on February 24. This smartphone will be the Xiaomi Mi 5 and when launched will be the company’s second smartphone of the year. Considering that the year is still young, you have to be impressed with what Xiaomi is doing.

The launch of the Xiaomi Mi 5 on February 24 has been confirmed by Global VP Hugo Barra and India Head Manu Kumar Jain. With the confirmation from the two, this is a done deal.

Neither of them revealed what we should expect from this device and they all promised “everything you imagined, and more.” This doesn’t give out much but then again is not unusual from a smartphone manufacturer. The company wants to build excitement and I hope the wait will be worth it.

Some of the rumors we have heard about the Xiaomi Mi 5 also don’t give us much to look forward to. All we know is that there will be four different variants, two of which will have curved displays and the remaining two will have normal flat displays.

For the power unit, it will have a snapdragon 820 chipset which is quite impressive. As for the camera, it is expected to have a 16MP unit at the back.

We will know more about this phone as we get closer to February 24.
