Twitter Introduces Tweet Translation to Mobile Apps to help translate tweets written in Foreign languages

twitter header size

Twitter has introduced tweet translation to its Android, iOS and web platforms. This feature has been available on TweetDeck for some time now and it is powered by Bing allowing users to read tweets written in foreign languages. Twitter broke the news via a tweet yesterday.

Tweet translation is quick and very easy to use. When you spot a tweet written in foreign language, click on the globe icon within the tweet and the translated version will appear below the tweet. Twitter says that tweet translation currently supports over 40 languages. You may also disable this feature if you wish to do so. This can be done from the account settings page.

If you have used tweet translations on TweetDeck, you will agree with me that the translations are not always accurate. Sometimes you get translations and are left wondering what the hell it means. Keep in mind that Bing translator (powers tweet translate) uses advanced language software.  Lets hope this improves as we move forward.
