Google to Push Android 5.0 Lollipop to All Android One Devices by the End of Next Month

android one 2

Do you guys remember Android One? Well, if you don’t, these are the low cost Android devices that Google announced in September this year. What sets them apart from other Android devices is that they are a result of the partnership between Google and a few selected Smartphone manufacturers. They also have the same ‘pure Android’ experience you will find on the Nexus devices. Unlike the Nexus devices, Android One devices are way cheaper and target the developing countries.

Most of the Android One devices on the market are running on Android 4.4 KitKat since this was the latest variant when they hit the market. Since Google already introduced Android 5.0 Lollipop, we expect the Android One devices to get this version very soon. Make that very soon as we are getting reports that Google will push the Lollipop update to all Android One devices by the end of December.

It is believed that the updates are consumer-ready and all Android One devices will get them at the same time. This is possible because all Android One devices have the identical hardware that is signed off by Google.

Currently, Android One partners include Lava, Xolo, Karbonn, Intex and Micromax.
