Rumours of the Samsung Z have been circulating for sometime now. The Samsung Z was supposed to be Samsung’s high-end device powered by Tizen but was faced with delays from the first day. The lack of apps in the Tizen app store is what forced Samsung to delay production and release of the Samsung Z. Samsung has not had any lack getting developers into Tizen and is now ditching the high-end Samsung Z in favour of low-end Tizen powered devices.

According to the website, Tizen Experts, Samsung will concentrate on low-end Tizen devices such as the dual-SIM Samsung SM2130H. Samsung has made the move to low end devices because competition in the top tier segment is so tough introducing a device that has an underdeveloped ecosystem will not make much sense.

Moving to low end devices may affect the Tizen ecosystem negatively as developers may not be enticed to develop apps for the ecosystem after all. This is because users who buy low-end devices tend not to spend extra money buying apps so it would not make sense to develop these apps.

Samsung has two Tizen developers events scheduled later this year, one in October and the other one in November, so we will hear more about Tizen and probably the Tizen powered devices.
