The windows phone store has seen steady growth in the numbers of apps for the last few months and has finally crossed the 300,000 mark. According to Microsoft, hundreds more are added to the store on a daily basis.
Microsoft also revealed that the Windows phone store has seen a growth of over 10,000 apps every month since December 2013. At that time, the store had only 200,000 apps while in April this year the number had risen to 250,000. This shows a growth of 50,000 apps every four months translating to a little over 10,000 apps every month.
In terms of the downloads recorded so far, Microsoft says the number is over 4 billion apps and games. This shows the strength and consistent growth the Windows Phone store has seen.
The new figures are quite good and the growth is convincing for those who called off Windows phone because of the lack of enough apps. This number may be still be small compared to Apple’s App store and Google’s Play store both of which have well over a million apps but its growth is what excites me. The future of Windows phone looks promising to me.
