Vertiv has announced the successful modernisation of the cooling infrastructure at NFrance’s sovereign data centre. NFrance is a leading French provider of cloud hosting, colocation, and managed services. The project delivered an approximately 20% reduction in power consumption, the elimination of cooling-related water consumption (WUE = 0), and uninterrupted operations throughout the deployment phase, compared to the previous cooling infrastructure capabilities.
For nearly 30 years, NFrance has supported organisations in their digital transformation with a strong commitment to availability, security, and data sovereignty. With growing cloud usage and increasingly critical hosted services, the company needed to modernise its cooling output while maintaining full operational continuity for its clients.
Vertiv and NFrance collaborated to design an integrated thermal chain architecture that supports precise temperature control, energy and resource efficiency. The solution is built on the Vertiv Liebert PDX direct expansion system, equipped with variable-speed scroll compressors enabling fine-tuned cooling modulation between 25% and 100% according to the heat loads variation. The high-performance Vertiv Liebert HPA-HCR condenser integrates next-generation EC fans, supporting heat dissipation without any water consumption and low acoustic impact. The entire system is managed by the intelligent Vertiv Liebert iCOM controller, which coordinates all units through its “Teamwork” mode for overall performance optimisation.
The architecture features a dual refrigeration circuit with independent condensers, providing N+1 redundancy. In the event of a circuit loss, up to 50% of capacity remains available with automatic restart in under 40 seconds.
The project was supported by Vertiv commissioning and project management services, along with a Vertiv Services Preferred Warranty contract providing 24/7 technical support with on-site intervention assistance. This supports operation from day one and positions the solution for long-term alignment with NFrance’s energy performance improvements and business continuity plans.
“The performance of our hosting services depends on the stability of our infrastructure. By choosing Vertiv cooling solutions, we have not only secured 99.99% availability for our servers, but also significantly reduced our PUE. Since installation, we have observed absolute thermal precision, even during peak loads. Less energy consumption, more computing power: a winning choice for our profitability and for the planet. Furthermore, Vertiv supported NFrance throughout the project with great professionalism, standing out through the technical quality of the qualification, the proximity of commercial and technical teams, and rigorous follow-up during implementation,” said Julien Dal, datacenter & infrastructures manager for NFrance.
Roberto Sanchez, enterprise sales director for Vertiv in France, commented: “Our collaboration with NFrance demonstrates how our comprehensive approach, combining cutting-edge technology solutions, consulting expertise, and local services, delivers concrete, measurable results in operational performance and energy efficiency. Beyond technical performance, it is our ability to support our clients at every stage, from initial sizing to preventive maintenance, that makes the difference.”
