Cassava Technologies has strengthened Africa’s cloud infrastructure after its subsidiary, Africa Data Centres (ADC), was designated a Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute Metro peering location in Johannesburg, making it the first such location on the continent.
The milestone enables organisations to access more resilient and secure private connectivity to Microsoft Azure, with built-in redundancy for mission-critical workloads. Through Liquid C2, Cassava’s cloud and cybersecurity business, customers will also gain access to Secure CloudConnect, a managed service that combines private cloud connectivity with integrated cybersecurity.
Cassava says the development reinforces its “One Cassava” strategy by combining ADC’s data centre infrastructure with Liquid C2’s cloud and security expertise to help businesses accelerate digital transformation while meeting growing regulatory and operational resilience requirements.
“Being designated a Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute Metro peering location is a defining moment for Africa Data Centres as well as for Africa’s digital infrastructure,” said Ziaad Suleman, Senior Vice President of Cassava Technologies South Africa and Botswana.
Microsoft South Africa CEO Vukani Mngxati said the launch provides South African organisations with a more resilient and secure path to Azure, supporting AI adoption and digital innovation.
The announcement positions Johannesburg among a select group of global technology hubs offering Azure ExpressRoute Metro services and marks another step in expanding Africa’s enterprise cloud infrastructure.
