Standard Bank Group has once again been ranked as Africa’s Most Valuable Banking Brand by Brand Finance, marking the fifth consecutive year the lender has secured the top spot.
Brand Finance evaluates more than 5,000 of the world’s largest brands annually. It assesses factors such as brand strength, financial performance and stakeholder perception. Standard Bank’s continued dominance reflects a combination of consistent delivery, strong brand purpose and its ability to inspire confidence and growth among clients and employees.
“Five consecutive years as Africa’s Most Valuable Banking Brand is not something we take for granted,” said Sim Tshabalala. “The recognition affirms that our clients, partners, and communities across the continent continue to place their trust in us. In line with our purpose, ‘Africa is our home, we drive her growth’, we remain committed to driving sustainable development on the continent.”
Group Chief Operating Officer Margaret Nienaber added that the brand’s longevity is rooted in its people and partnerships. “Our brand is about people and impact. Our 163+ years of longevity is linked to our partnerships with people, and clients who value our services and what our organisation stands for,” she said.
In Kenya, Abraham Ongenge emphasized the local bank’s role in leveraging the group’s broader network. “We continue to tap into Standard Bank’s network and capabilities to deliver optimal value for our clients. We are proud to be part of a brand that is steering Africa’s growth,” he noted.
The recognition adds to a growing list of global accolades for Standard Bank. The group was ranked among the World’s Best Employers for 2025 by Forbes, and also featured in lists by TIME and Newsweek recognizing top global companies and trusted brands.
Locally, Stanbic Bank Kenya was named Best Private Bank in Kenya by Global Finance and Best Investment Bank in Kenya by Euromoney in 2025.
