Microsoft has announced that Xbox Game Camp Africa is returning for its third year. The 12-week program officially kicks off on December 4, 2025, in Cape Town, South Africa, during Africa Games Week.

The initiative is organised in partnership with ID@Xbox’s Developer Acceleration Program (DAP). It brings together pre-selected professional game studios from across Africa. Over the course of the program, participating teams will progress from game ideation to creating a working prototype or vertical slice, with guidance and mentorship from Team Xbox.

Xbox Game Camp Africa has welcomed more than 1,900 new-to-industry game creators since its launch. It has given developers across the region with a global stage to showcase their talent as well as learn and network.

Among the success stories of the program is Kunta Content, a Kenyan studio whose debut game Hiru originated from their experience in the first two Xbox Game Camps. The studio recently unveiled a trailer showcasing the game’s diverse environments that are inspired by African landscapes.

“We are beyond excited to finally share a glimpse of the world of Hiru,” said Dean Gichukie, CEO & Game Producer at Kunta Content. “This trailer is a testament to our team’s passion and the incredible support from Xbox, starting with Xbox Game Camp. We are bringing the continent of Africa to life in a way that has never been seen before, from the beauty of the Masai Mara, to the mysteries of the Congo, to the starkness of the desert.”
