As the foldable smartphone market continues to grow and evolve, Tecno has announced its entry with the Phantom V Fold. This is the company’s first foldable device, and it promises to deliver a big display, excellent battery life, and impressive camera capabilities. Let’s take a closer look at what the Tecno Phantom V Fold has to offer.

    Design and Display

The Tecno Phantom V Fold is a big phone that weighs in at 299g, making it one of the heaviest foldable phones on the market. When closed, the phone features a 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x2550px and a refresh rate of 120Hz. This is the cover display and will be used for everyday tasks such as checking notifications, texting, and making calls.

However, when the phone is opened up, you’re greeted by a much larger 7.85-inch 2000x2296px folding screen, also with a 120Hz LTPO panel. This screen is larger than the one on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4.

    Camera

The Tecno Phantom V Fold boasts an impressive camera setup. There are three cameras on the back of the device, including a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 2x zoom camera, and a 13MP ultrawide camera. On the front, there is a 32MP camera on the cover screen and a 16MP camera on the inner screen. This camera setup promises to deliver high-quality photos and videos, making the Tecno Phantom V Fold an excellent choice for photography enthusiasts.

    Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the Tecno Phantom V Fold is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, which is a 4nm chipset. This processor is comparable to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor found in the Galaxy Z Fold4, promising smooth and efficient performance. The device also comes with up to 512GB of storage, providing ample space for all your apps, photos, and videos.

The Tecno Phantom V Fold packs a 5,000mAh battery with 45W of wired charging (no wireless option). According to Tecno, the phone can recharge 40% in just 15 minutes and fully charge in 55 minutes. This impressive battery life ensures that you can use your phone for extended periods without having to worry about running out of juice.

    Price and Availability

The Tecno Phantom V Fold is set to launch in select markets in Q2 of 2023. It will be available in two storage options: 12/256GB and 12/512GB. We still don’t have any pricing information for Kenya biut the phone will be launched later this month and will be cheaper than the Samsung Fold.
