Tecno has unveiled its latest innovation, chameleon coloring technology, on the first day of the company’s appearance at the Mobile World Congress. This color-changing technology can change the back cover of a device to different colors based on usage or user customization. It allows users to freely showcase their style without being locked into just one color option.
The chameleon coloring technology adapts a unique material that allows for a continuous change of colors up to 2 million times, with rapid color changing in just 0.03 seconds. It will be the first technology of its kind to be fully compatible with a smartphone device, and it will also be the first in the industry to offer full spectrum color rendering and an astonishing total of 1600 different colors. This rich variety of colors will enable users to fully customize their device and change it as frequently as they would like.
For those who don’t have time to ponder their own color preferences, the chameleon coloring technology will also allow the exterior to interact directly with the device. This will create spontaneous and active color designs based on the battery performance, the apps that are running, the surrounding air temperature, the music that is playing, and more. It keeps the coloring consistently fresh and unique for the user, and even lets the device’s exterior appearance interact with features like the camera.
The material used for the chameleon coloring technology is a sub-micron prism material that scatters light to achieve full-spectrum color rendering. By adjusting the direction of the sub-micron prism molecules with an electric field, multiple different wavelengths of light are created, resulting in a gorgeous iridescent transformation.
Twcno sees this as a major step-up from the polychromatic photoisomer technology that the company previously used to change phone shell color in sunlight. The chameleon coloring technology provides infinitely more options for color customization, enabling it to fit perfectly with the needs of consumers from diverse demographics.
According to the company, this innovation isn’t just focused on imaging and hardware but also the entire smartphone experience, including material and design innovation. The company’s innovation in materials led to the pioneering back cover constructed from recycled plastics for the PHANTOM X2 Pro 5G Eco-Friendly Edition. Its design innovation enables technology as a canvas for the first time, bringing TECNO CAMON 19 Pro Mondrian Edition – the industry’s first device that is both artistic and intuitive to users.
The chameleon coloring technology is a significant addition to TECNO’s list of innovations. Its ability to change colors based on usage or user customization, and the fact that it can offer full-spectrum color rendering and an astonishing total of 1600 different colors, make it a groundbreaking technology that will definitely revolutionize the smartphone industry.
