Betty Mwangi leaves Jumia after a 9 month run at the e-com firm

Juan Seco

Betty Mwangi is leaving Jumia after a 9 month stint at the e-com firm. She joined the firm back in 2021 and has been the CEO since then. She replaced Sam Chappatte who had been the CEO since 2016.

Replacing Betty at Jumia Kenya is Juan Seco who joined the firm back in 2016 as the Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Jumia, he worked at a number of firms including KPMG and PwC.

Two years after joining Jumia, Seco became the COO of JumiaPay. He held this position for three years before he was appointed the Senior VP for JumiaPay.

Joining Jumia, we expect Seco to build on what Betty had been working towards including furthering customer-focused commitment to reach an inflection point in its growth trajectory.

At this point, it is not clear what position Betty will be taking but we should have that information in the coming months.
