The latest addition to the Infinix Hot series is the Hot 12. I have been using the Infinix Hot 12 Play for a few weeks and have a good idea as to what it has to offer. The phone is available locally for Ksh 16,500. This is not the only device in the series as there is the Infinix Hot 12i that you can also get in Kenya for Ksh 13,000.

The Infinix Hot 12 Play has quite a number of upgrades to offer when compared to its predecessor, the Hot 11. Have a look at its main specifications below.

    • Display: 6.82-inch display.
    • Processor: MediaTek Helio G85.
    • RAM: 4GB RAM.
    • Storage: 64/128 GB storage.
    • Rear camera: 13 MP + 2MP + AI.
    • Front camera: 8MP.
    • Battery: 6000mAh battery

So what is Infinix promising with the Hot 12 Play. Here are some of the top:

    • Bigger and long lasting battery
    • Great performance
    • Amazing display

In this review, I will highlight my experiences using the Hot 12 Play and pay attention to the three points mentioned above.

    Design and Display

The design of the Infinix Hot 12 Play is not any different from its predecessor. There are small changes the company has implemented but nothing major. It is still a modern design and the build quality is sturdy.

As for the display, it has a 6.82-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate. This is quite good to be honest for a phone within this price range. The display is very bright and you will not have any serious issues using it under direct sunlight. The high refresh rate offers smooth scrolling for a better user experience.

    Software and Performance

The Infinix Hot 12 Play is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor that has been paired with 4GB of RAM and either 64 or 128GB of storage. Performance is not so bad on this phone, I used it without any serious performance issues even when playing some demanding games.

The 4GB of RAM is more than enough as this phone supports virtual RAM that can expand the available RAM by 3GB more to 7GB using some of the storage space. This is useful if you need the extra RAM to complete some tasks.

    Battery

The Infinix Not 12 Play has a massive 6,000 mAh battery that should easily last you an entire day or even more depending on your usage. During the review period, I would consistently get two days of use on a single charge. This is quite good and what we have come to expect from entry level smartphones from Infinix.

    Camera

You get a triple camera setup at the back of the Infinix Hot 12 Play. This is made up of a 13MP main sensor, 2MP and AI sensors. The photos you get are quite good if the lighting is good, nothing extraordinary. The selfie camera is equally as good and you will get shots that you can share on social media without any editing.
