WhatsApp is said to be working on a new feature that will allow users to continue listening to voice notes even after they close the chat.
The feature is currently under development according to WABetaInfo. The feature is dubbed global voice message player and at the moment it is available for the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS.
With WhatsApp global voice message player, users will be able to start voice notes and exit the chat, view and reply to other messages in the app while the voice note is playing in the background. When the voice note player is active, a window will be pinned at the top of the app from where a user can pause or stop the voice note.
This new feature will not allow the playing of voice notes when the app is minimized.
The new voice note feature is available on WhatsApp Beta for iOS and should be available on the Android version soon.
